Kalachar Magazine

Kalachar Magazine was meant to be a publication covering issues, questions, and facets of the life of the young Indian-American living with two cultures. In fact, the word “kalachar” literally means “culture.” It was being populated with writing from graduates of the same background.

I joined up as their creative director and immediately set myself to designing the logo. The challenge was to mix the two cultures in the type. I created the serif letterforms with special attention to Henna tattoos and other expressive patterns/imagery regularly seen in the Hindu lifestyle.

Unfortunately, the magazine has been put on an indefinite hiatus.
